Toysday Tuesday

Oliver is now 9 months old, and loves to play.  He still enjoys doing flips on the ground when playing and is quite good at it!  Here's a new video captured over the weekend.  Enjoy!

Toes and Tummy Tuesday

Love those stiff chicken legs Tanner! I don't think Smokey is appreciating the 'show' he is getting!

Tanner loves the nekofly...he is crazy rolling around on the floor. We call him our roly poly!

Tail Trouble Tuesday

Cousin Pirate could use some purrs from the community for his rear area. He ruptured an anal gland on Sunday, and now has a drain in place. The drain should be removed on Thursday. He is on pain meds in the mean time to deal with the discomfort. He is taking it well, and did not have to start wearing the cone of shame until about 1:30 last night. Photo taken a few hours after he came home yesterday. I think if you biggify you can see the drain better and the stitches.

Hanging out with the cone of shame...Poor Pirate.

Purrs would be appreciated...

Toes and Tummy Tuesday

Smokey shows off his cute toes, his yoga skills and his bald belly...in one post!
Giving a good wash to those cute chicken legs...love those spread toes...
Leg down...washing the belly...Smokey washed his belly bald in September 2009, and the hair has not grown back yet.
Here's a close-up of the bald belly...it is nice and warm :)

Have any of you with stress bald patches ever grown the hair back? If so, how long did it take?
Still washing...love the pointed toes and the tail position...you go Goose! Brother Tanner could take some washing lessons from Smokey!

BTW - This is Smokey's favorite place to sleep...he takes over my pillow every night :)

Tanner Tuesday

Today we take a look at Tanner...he was bottle raised with one of his sisters. There were four kittens in his litter, but two went to a different foster home. Tanner has lived with me since he was 13 days old. We have been through a lot, and I am happy to be his mom! Tanner as a teenage kitten (6-8 months), playing on the treadmill...look how skinny he was!
Another Tanner as a kitten...he was about 5-6 months old here and not feeling well. He had a temperature and so just laid around. I couldn't take his temperature, so I drove him daily to another lady's house so she could do it. I finally broke down and bought an ear thermometer! I can do a lot of things medically to a cat, but that is not one of them!
Tanner about a year old or so...hanging out with some foster kittens on a towel covered heating pad. Everyone loved when the heating pads were available.

Curled up tight in a bed...
Trying to curl up tight, but this bed is a touch small for him...

Toesday Tuesday

Smokey is showing off his cute coffee bean toes today...resting on a kitchen chair. This chair is a favorite of all the boys...it is angled so they can sit in it and look right out the door to the bird feeders. Smokey could watch the birds if he would wake up :)

Tuesday Tales - Berkeley Plantation

While in the Williamsburg area, we visited the Berkeley Plantation. This was important because it is the Official site of the First Thanksgiving in America. Most people think of the pilgrams when they think of Thanksgiving, but the pilgrams didn't arrive in America for a few more years.
This is the James River...as seen from the front lawn of the plantation.
This is the Kitchen and servant quarters. There is a tunnel that runs between this building and the main building. They separated the kitchen from the main living quarters to keep the heat away.
A side view of the main house. William Henry Harrison, one of our President's was born here.
This is the guest house...I love the color of the plaster on the walls.
Another view of the kitchen building...you can see the cannon ball still in the wall.

Here is the shrine to the first Thanksgiving in America...1619.

Walking along the trails on the plantation we saw many butterflies....this one finally rested long enough for me to snap its picture.
The Flats enjoyed sunning on this rock to the Unknown Indian.

This was Rob, our tour guide. He did a great job of explaining some of the history of the plantation, and showing us around the house. We were unable to take pictures inside the house though.
Another plaque recognizing the First Thanksgiving...
We hope you have enjoyed this tour today...

Tanner was playing hard last night and stopped for a rest in the cube...it was the craziest pose, I was thankful my camera was handy!

The easiest time to get a trio picture is when the boys are having their evening canned food!

This is the human addition of this award...here are the rules:

1) Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award:
Thanks the cats and bean at Mishkat blog. This is a witty blog documenting the lives of Franklin, Dobby and Miss Tasha.

2) Share 7 things about yourself, and this needs to be the human...
  • I work for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill...go Tarheels! I also graduated from here and started working for my department when I was a student. That experience led to a full-time job.
  • I love to read, and my favorite authors include: Debbie Macomber, Rita Mae Brown, Donna Andrews, Michael Crichton, Leann Sweeney, JK Rowling.
  • My dreams include, owning a beach house, living in a small downtown apartment above a bookstore that I own, running a bed and breakfast, or starting a hospice facility for older cats with special medical needs.
  • I enjoy cooking and watching the Food Network
  • My trip to Japan in 2008 was the first time I had left the country. I hope Europe will be my next foreign excursion!
  • I love facebook and spend way too much time playing games on there. My favorites are Mafia Wars and Frontierville.
  • My biggest fear in life is that something bad will happen to my boys and they will suffer and wonder why mom isn't here to help them.

3) Now to pass this along to 5 other bloggers...

If you've already had this award, don't feel obligated to do it again...if there are other bloggers out there that would like to take this award, please feel free!!

Tanner's back foot...what long toes!
Smokey was laying on all of his toes except this little bit of a back foot...so precious!

Devon's front arm, in an awkward position :) Looks like an alien arm or something...cute coffee bean toes though!

Enjoy...tomorrow, a surprise visit from some flat cats...wonder what that's about?

Trio on Tuesday

I was thankful to have my camera ready last weekend when the boys gave me a great Trio shot. Smokey was in a frisky mood and claimed Devon's chair! Devon and Tanner just laid on the table. There were several birds out in the feeder for their entertainment.
A view from behind :) A lazy day is a great thing sometimes!
Hope you all have a great day!!

Trio on Tuesday

Today's trio features Smokey, Tanner and cousin Sophie. Everyone loves to lay in the guest room.
Smokey enjoyed laying on this bed when it was at the townhouse too, so we call this Smokey's room. He is in here every morning when I leave to go to work.

I love it when I can catch groups of cats laying together...makes me feel good to know that they have a friend or two in the house.
