Family on Friday

Tanner was a foster kitten for several months before I made the ultimate decision to adopt him. He came to us at 13 days old, along with a sister, Riley. There were two other kittens in the litter too. I wanted to show you Tanner's family...
This is Tanner :) He was a few months old here, and had just recovered from a nasty bought of ringworm :( Our whole house was infected including me and Auntie.
This is Tanner's brother, Syrah. He was fostered at another home at first, but then came to live with us until he was adopted.
This is Riley...she had the softest fur, almost felt like a rabbit. We bottle raised her as well, and she was eventually adopted into a loving home.

I don't have a picture of the other sister, Chardonnay. She was only with us a short while, and is thought to be the main ringworm culprit...at least she was the first to show signs. She was quarantined to another home immediately in the hopes of it not spreading, but no such luck. Chardonnay (Nay Nay) was a calico.

There you have it...Tanner's family. Smokey and Devon were found all alone so I don't know what sort of siblings they could have had.

Do you keep in touch with your littermates?

Thursday's Garden Post

We aren't officially in the Garden Club, although we are trying to learn the rules to be in it, but we thought we'd do a garden post anyway...
Tanner's job is to prune the dried or dead leaves from the various plants. He takes his role very seriously...looking good there Tanner!
Tanner is inspecting the newly planted vegetable garden. Mom has been lazy and needs to get another picture because those veggies are growing!
Smokey hangs out under the dead (we've replaced them now) hybiscus plants sniffing where the birds eat. Does anyone know how to keep hybiscus alive in the winter time?
Another view of the garden, and you can see in the lower right, our favorite...the catnip plant!! Mom has a bunch drying in the garage right now, and we can't wait until it is ready!
Well, there you have it...our garden!

Toes on Tuesday

Smokey today showing off his gorgeous toes. They are so soft, it's almost like he's never worked or been outside to rough up those toe pads.
Laying there just asking for his toes to be tickled...who could resist?
I couldn't! Sweet Smokey Feet!!

Mancats enjoy Eating

Tanner demonstrating the fine art of eating canned food, aka stinky goodness!
First, you want to push the food with your tongue over to the edge of the plate...
Next, hunker down next to your plate and nom away!
Enjoy!

Thankful Thursday

Smokey here today and I am thankful for my Scratching posts...
This one is in mom's bedroom...I love it!
This one is in the den...I love to sit here and look out the windows too! There are three of these circles to sit is...I'm on the lowest one right now.

This is the oldest one and it's in the cat play room. I like to sit on this one and look out the window too...on the ground below are the bird feeders so you have a 'birds-eye' view of the action! MOL

What are you thankful for today?

Fun Facts about Devon

Devon here today, and I see the attention my brothers got last week when they posted facts about themselves. I can't be outdone, so saving the best for last...here I go. I will do 9 things, since I will be turning 9 this year.
1) I was found in the woods at 10 days old and bottle raised by my God-mother, until I was adopted at 5 weeks old by mom.
2) I was cryptorchid, so my hoo-ha's had not dropped properly...the vet had to go fishing for them in my belly.
3) I have lived in 5 places...my godmothers, an apartment, a townhouse, another apartment and now our house.
4) I love to rub on the bread bag and will beg to be held in the pantry so I can.
5) I enjoy watching tv with mom
6) Sometimes I forget to squat when I am pottying and go all over the floor. Mom says I'm a dancing fool.
7) I have spent the night in a hotel. This was when I was in my godmothers wedding, as the ring bearer.
8) I love to hatch my nip nanner in the evenings
9) I do not move when I sleep. At my godmothers house there were two greyhounds that I would cuddle with...they would growl at me if I wiggled. I do not like to be messed with when I sleep. I curl in a tight ball and lay very still the whole night.

Well, there you have it...9 fun facts about glorious me! Hope you enjoyed...what am I saying, of course you did.

Smokey's Gotcha Day

14 Years ago today, Smokey came to live with me...I have been blessed!
I wrote a lot about his gotcha story for his birthday this year...you can read it here.

Smokey is a sweetie pie, and such a gentle spirit. He is the peace maker in the house, and will come running if there is an argument amongst his brothers.

We will have a small party, since large crowds make Smokey a bit nervous still....but I want to thank you all for coming. Enjoy the food, brought to you from Japan!
We'll break out the Sake for the adults to sample...
Yakisoba...grilled noodles with a fried egg on top...yummy!
Yummy seafood appetizer with shrimp heads and all...
Takoyaki...Octopus balls...you can eat them and play with them!
For the less adventurous kitties...some nice canned Sardines :)
Thanks for stopping by...hope you enjoyed the yummy treats!!

Foster Flashback Friday

Logan was a foster kitten in 2003. He came to us because he was recovering from having his tail amputated. He had arrived at the vet with his tail almost completely degloved and infected. The best solution for him was to simply remove it, and his hoo-hahs at the same time.
We were running a makeshift hospital at our house at the time, so he fit right in. You can see his little stub of a remaining tail in this picture. He was a complete love bug, and was adopted the first time he went out...everyone loves a bit of a sad story :)

Have a great weekend all you bloggers and Happy Mother's Day!!

Tasty Thursday

Tanner here and today's post is about a dream of mine...one day I'll achieve my dream...You see we have these pesky pigeons that sit on the roof of our house and dance around. They torment me, day and night. They also hang out in our yard and eat all the bird seed...they are pigs, at least that's what Auntie calls them.
Can you see them up on the roof? This was the other week, I was enjoying some spring weather with mom and they were up there dancing and cooing at me the whole time. Tormenting me, so I couldn't focus on breathing in the fresh air like I wanted.
I saw them and dared them to come down so I could eat one for dinner. One day...I'll have a pigeon for dinner...that is my dream!

PS - Can anyone give any pointers on hunting? Or the proper way to prepare a pigeon for dinner...would mom need to roast it in the crock pot? I'm not sure I'd like something raw.

Tricky Trees

After spending so much time working on the alphabet posts last month, I am out of practice coming up with my own ideas! Today I was reviewing some pictures from the other week, when it was pretty enough to spend a bit of time outdoors and found this one...
Guess Who??

Who is the kitty hiding behind the butterfly bush? This kitty loves to sit in the dirt. We have a catnip plant in the corner of the garden area and he loves to roll around in it as well!

May is here...

May is a pretty slow month around our house. We only have one birthday and that is cousin Pirate. He will be 7 years old this year.

Other days to mention are Mother's Day...that's next Sunday if you've forgotten!

Memorial Day is later on in the month, and marks the beginning of beach season :) I love getting a day off from work!
