Mancat Monday

The week was a good one for us all...I was able to get away and do some scrapbooking at a state park.  Great scenery, good food, lots of fun and very productive.
I focused on Journaling the story of the photos of the boys.  Each boy usually has a volume for each year.  I had been good about getting photos on the pages, but not telling the stories.  My goal was to get caught up.  I didn't get everything done, but made a nice dent in the pages.  I was able to complete Harrison's 2017 and 2018 pages, Tanner's 2017, Flynn's 2017 and Oliver's 2017.  My shoulders neck and arms are DONE with writing for a while!

The boys were home and we had the pet sitter come in because Auntie went to Asheville to help a friend again.  Flynn was happy to play when we returned, but quickly needed a rest!

Cousin Lenny enjoys toting this green chicken around and talking with it in his mouth.

All the panthers looking to see if we are going to play again...

The fur is growing back on Harrison's tail...looking darker again.

Hung up this mouse toy and Flynn enjoyed playing with it.  I have heard negative things about it getting wrapped around necks, etc...so it is put away when  we are not there to supervise.

Rusty wasn't very impressed...

We finally got a bit of snow last Thursday...it was beautiful, and the kind we like...gone on Friday :)

Hope you all had a nice week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Mancat Monday but on a Tuesday

This has been a good week for the boys.  We are being more regular with the "Safe Space" essential oils and are seeing huge improvements in behavior.
Flynn is the main culprit right now, but we think he truly is wanting to play with Lenny.  He has so much energy and needs an outlet to burn some of it off.  I put him in a harness and we did a short adventure in the back yard.  He wasn't completely confident, but seemed to enjoy it.  He was very tired after his outing!  A tired cat isn't causing trouble!

I picked up some new catnip toys to see how Harrison would do with them.  Oliver loved his!

Rusty and Harrison checking out another one...

Harrison found his and enjoyed bunny kicking and licking it.  Thankfully, he didn't eat the fabric like he does with the banana or carrot shapes.  We may have found a way to have catnip again!

You can see we are seeing much improvement with Lenny.  Here he and George share Aunties lap.  Oliver is on the back of the chair, and you can see Flynn's legs on the right, he is on the ottoman.

Auntie is the pack leader at our house.

That's our update for the week.  Tomorrow the Japan trip continues...

Mancat Monday

It's been a while since I've been on here, but I am back home now, and plan to stay for a long while!  This has been a crazy year for traveling, and while it is fun, I think I'm done for now.  Looking forward to some time at home!
The panthers were happy I was home...they were right ready for their bedtime treats.  L-R Harrison, Oliver, and Flynn
Auntie put up the trees and had them all fluffed, so we started decorating for Christmas...Oliver enjoys helping...
Flynn makes sure we put out the best ornaments!

Rusty has stolen an ornament already, but that's okay, we put the soft ones on the low branches for them.  They are all working hard to remember that we look with our eyes and not our mouths. This is a tough rule!
Flynn thankful a box was finally empty for him...

Our cousin gave us a pet stroller...Lenny is looking forward to going for a ride!

Black Friday is the time we stock up on cat litter because with my discount, it is basically half-price.  We use 60-70, 42 pound bags of litter a year...thankful we have a place to store it.
The rest...We still had some from last year, so we only had to buy about 50 this year.

Rusty loves the new stroller too...

Flynn watching me eat lunch...he had just been vacuumed so I was admiring his beauty.  One of the friends we stayed with in Japan is in town now, and she was coming over to meet the boys.

Everyone is doing better with Lenny.  We have a couple of episodes where someone looks at him a day, but they are less intense and becoming less frequent.  They can all get along, as you can see here, we don't know what causes the flair ups.

Lenny is doing well with his pottying too, now that we have a litter box in the pantry.
Rusty is cooking on the heated bed...he is going to bed earlier and earlier at night.  Normally, he would curl up about 8:30, but now it could be as early at 7!

Flynn enjoying a jiggle on the washing machine!  He is such a goof!

Well, there you have it.  Tomorrow, we will continue with the Alaska trip...Denali National Park.

Mancat Monday

The mancats are doing well.  Oliver and Rusty went to the vet on Halloween and they both got a clean bill of health!  Oliver's chin is clear with the exception of a few black heads.  We should continue wiping it down with the chlorhexadine wipes as often as we can.
Oliver wearing a pumpkin bandana...they took it off once the vet saw them :)
Rusty looks handsome in his blue bandana with the bats on it.
Rusty spent the rest of the day napping...traveling is hard work.

It turns out that Georgie is not the peeing culprit, but it is Lenny.  Auntie caught him in the pantry one morning.  He went in for a check and of course the urine was normal.  It is totally behavioral.  We have moved a litter box into the pantry, and he will use it faithfully.  It seems that is a safe spot for him at the moment.  We will continue trying the essential oils, feliway and helping him feel comfortable.  If that doesn't work, then the vet is ready to call in some Prozac for him as well.

The Panthers are all ready for treats at night before bed.  We don't have near the amount of food and snacks available as we did when Cousin Pirate was around, so they are acting hungry.  We are still offering some special treats so they aren't starving, but it is an adjustment for sure.

Flynn is doing well, he just didn't get a picture this week.
Rusty is still resting from his adventure, the doorbell ringing on Halloween, and having us home on the weekend :)

This will be the last Mancat Monday for a few weeks.  I am heading to Japan on Wednesday until the 25th.  Looking forward to seeing lots of cats and eating wonderful food while there.

Check back tomorrow for another edition of Tuesday Travels...this time we will be riding the train from Whittier to Talkeetna, Alaska.

Mancat Monday

The mancats have had an interesting week...not all happy, but we are adjusting.
Cousin Pirate crossed the bridge on Thursday, Oct 24th.  He had pretty much quit eating, so it was the best decision for him.

The rest of the household seems to have noticed some, but none are overly upset except George.  He has started peeing inappropriately.  Hoping he will settle down, but may take him to be checked for a UTI just in case.

We brought some pumkins home for the boys to play with and sniff.  Always looking for a fun photo opportunity!  Oliver and Harrison were not impressed.

Lenny was a bit curious.  Lenny will officially be Aunties cat now instead of us sharing him.

Rusty had to look from inside his house...

Flynn thought they were pretty cool...we have since put them outside for the birds and squirrels.

Oliver helped fold some towels...Harrison later unfolded them all trying to burrow!

Catnip treat on Sunday afternoon...

Harrison wanting to play with Flynn, but he is too tired.

Rusty in the other house...He loves to play in these things!

Oliver and Rusty head to the VET on Thursday for their annual shots, and to recheck Oliver's chin.

Mancat Monday

Here's to another fun week with all the mancats...
Lenny and Rusty watching a rabbit in the yard...

Rusty loves a basket!  It doesn't matter where it is, he has to get in and lay down!

Oliver is making progress with accepting Lenny and forgiving me for messing with his chin all the time.  My view during Friday naptime.

On the other side of me was Lenny...they both did great in the same bed

Lenny had his first taste of tuna and LOVED it!

Cousin Pirate could use some purrs.  He has been losing quite a bit of weight, and the vet is trying to figure out why.  He had an ultrasound looking for cancer or digestive issues, but the views came back normal.  His blood work looks good, but we are wondering if the thyroid issues are masking the severity of the kidney disease.  We are waiting on results of some more blood work to see if there is an absorption issue.  Pirate is 16, so it could simple be age, but he can't keep losing weight at the rate he is going.  In January is weighed 11 pounds.  Now he is 7.13 pounds.

Purrs for:
~Weight Gain
~For the vet to figure out what is wrong
~For us to find some food he likes, so he eats better (he is on appetite stimulants which are helping)

Flynn and the others have destroyed a couple of catnip toys...they love rolling in the dried remains.  Have fun Flynn!  I can vacuum another day :)

Oliver hanging out with me while I'm scrapbooking.  He is slow to accept change, but he is getting there. His chin is looking 100 times better.  Last night, I only saw a little bit of white stuff come out when I combed him.  He has another week of antibiotics before we get rechecked.  I almost imagine he will need another couple of weeks because there are still quite a few knots and bumps on his chin.  They aren't as painful for him now, I suppose because they aren't as deep as before.  Oliver is doing a great job at taking his pill every morning.  It's been a tough month for him, but his life is improving, and we are finding a new normal with Lenny around.

Well, that's all we have for this week.  Remember to stop by tomorrow to read about our stop in Juneau.

Mancat Monday

Well, this has been a crazy couple of weeks for the mancats!  Auntie and I left with our parents on August 21st to head to Alaska. I'll post some pictures from that trip in the coming weeks.  The boys had a pet sitter, and we received updates daily on them, and they were all doing well.  Harrison was the only one that did not really come out from hiding.  We arrived back home on Sept 2nd and everyone was glad to see us!
Flynn was sneezing some, so he is now just lounging around.  He is eating well though, so he should be fine :)

Rusty didn't mind the pet sitter and I was pleasantly surprised...he is very food motivated!

Flynn always made sure to help her when she came over...

Flynn showed her what a big goof he is!

Oliver kept an eye on things too.  Oliver had been to the vet a couple of weeks before we left for some chin acne.  He had had a couple of large zits, but nothing too terrible.  We were given some shampoo and told to wash his chin twice a week and comb with a flea comb to help remove the blackheads.  He was looking good before we left, however, he was a complete swollen painful mess when we got home!  He went to the vet on Tuesday morning with his oozing chin.  I had popped a few zits on Monday with the flea comb, and done a hot compress to help more come out. The vet shaved his chin, did a hot compress, and gave him an antibiotic injection.  He was given an ointment to use daily to try and help.

Well, it's been a week, and he is less swollen but still just covered in zits.  He will be going back tomorrow to see what else can be done for him. He spent yesterday under the bed and not eating.  I found a dose of pain meds we had from Pirate, that were still good, so I gave that to him.  He was out this morning and ate some food from my hand.

It is hard to tell if it is just his chin bothering him, or it if could be what is in the picture below...

Lenny

Lenny was our cousins cat, and she asked us to help her find a home or take him.  We offered to take him, and then when she finished college, if she was settled and wanted him back she could have him.  He is a super sweet and laid-back boy.  He is 9 years old.  He arrived on Sept 3rd.  He stayed in the kitten room for a couple of days and then was out in the house...

Treats are helping everyone get along and come out from hiding.  Harrison is the most nervous, but he has been out over the weekend, and doing much better.

Lenny has made himself at home!

Well, there you have it.  The boys have had a big few weeks but everything is settling down now.  If Oliver can get over his chin acne we will be a happy household once again!
