Trio Tuesday

An oldie but a goodie...I love when I find the cats hanging out with one another.  Smokey has been smitten with Sophie since the day she walked into the house :)  Tanner fit right in when he came along and I would find the three of them laying together quite regularly.

This photo is from 2007.  Now Tanner has become more anxious and nervous around everyone.  I don't really know what has happened to create this attitude.  Has anyone else experienced a change like this?  How were you able to help the nervous one overcome his fears?  Tanner will lay with me and snuggle with Devon some, but I normally find him by himself upstairs in a bed alone.  We are currently trying Amitryptaline to see if that will help him, along with feliway and a calming collar.  Once our two month supply is used, I am thinking about switching him to another anti-anxiety to see if we get better results.

  1. You might want to check with Cheri at Cats of the Wildcat Woods to see if she's used anything homeopathic with success. If so, it could be worth a try, better than the pharmaceutical he's getting now (with its possible side effects).

    Good luck!

  2. Awwww maybe cos he's getting older? It's just I remember watching a vet programme and a couple brought in their sweet doggie who was like 21 years old and they said he was being really anxious and yet acting more needy - and the vet did tests and ruled out anything bad then concluded it was old age and told the couple to give their dog lots of comfort and hugs! Which I thought was too cute! Hugs to sweet Tanner! Take care

  4. Hope Tanner feels more comfortable soon, sometimes the cat dynamics can get complicated. The five of us get along well, thankfully.

  5. That sure is a cute picture! We have our paws crossed that you figure out how to alleviate some of Tanner's anxiety soon.

  7. Did anything specific happen or change in your household around the time Tanner started getting more anxious? Or has he had his eyesight and hearing checked lately? My guess is that either something happened that made him anxious or it could be a medical issue. If he is losing sight or hearing, or if he has developed another condition that isn't obvious on the surface, that would definitely cause him anxiety.

  8. We're sorry to hear that Tanner is feeling anxious now. We echo Sparkle's comment...has anything happened recently to cause him to feel like this? Wally is a bit edgy, but that's because Zoey is here and he does not get along with her (he does take a low dose of prozac). We hope the feliway and medication helps.
