Thankful Thursday

Today we will focus on the rapidly growing 'littles' Harrison and Flynn.
They are 7 months now and Harrison weighs just over 8 pounds.  In the past couple of weeks he has started to fill out a little bit and doesn't look so fragile.  He is a sweet boy and quick to purr.
He loves to talk and is the craziest of the two.  His favorite things are eating Cousin Sophie's Florentine canned food,  stealing bags of treats from the pantry, watching his fish and trying to touch him, anything water, watching the birds outside, talking and playing.
Harrison and Flynn still spend a lot of time hanging out together.  They love to wrestle and chase one another.
You don't notice it as much in these photos because of the camera angle, but Flynn is a good bit larger than Harrison.  They look so handsome in their collars!
Flynn weighs just over 10 pounds now and is going to be a large cat!  He is a sweetheart and enjoys his snuggle time.  Flynn doesn't know how to walk...he has to run every where he goes!  He is our perpetual black streak.
Flynn has a funny personality.  Harrison is more slap-stick humor whereas Flynn is more subtle, maybe even sarcastic :) His favorite things include: Eating, pushing his stick toy around, a favorite mouse, running, snuggling on the toilet with you, sniffing your hair, wresting his brothers, and being involved in whatever you are doing.

That's a quick update on Harrison and Flynn.  They have been wonderful additions to my family and I am so thankful for them.

Tanner Tuesday

So, Tanner went to the vet on Friday afternoon.  He was still sounding stuffy and sneezing more.  The vet spent a bit of time looking up in his nose and noticed some scabs...he is still thinking allergies and possibly eosinophilic granuloma.  He said the steroids should be helping him, but decided that maybe he has some secondary bacterial infection going on, so we have him on a course of antibiotics.  He is taking Zenequin daily for 14 days.
There are days where he sounds better, as in you don't hear him when he walks into the room!  Then times when he is stuffy sounding, although those are becoming less frequent.

He is playing and eating well, but he has lost a few ounces in the past couple of weeks.

For those keeping up with Tanner's daily pharmacy routine, here is what he takes now:

Morning:
Prednisolone
Potassium
Atenolol
Benazepril
Falimazole
Saline spray in his nose

Evening:
Prednisolone
Potassium
Atenolol
Falimazole
Zenequin
Famotadine - injection
Saline spray in his nose

I think we are on the right track now and are starting to see/hear some improvements.  He will go back in a couple of weeks for a recheck unless he is completely well.

Below are a couple of videos of Tanner.  He has a piece of fleece, known as his "girl".  Sometimes he does strange things with his girl, and talks to her.  In one video you can here him talking to me because I am going to try and take his girl!  He carries her around the downstairs, so one video is him bringing her back into the den.  Enjoy!

Mancat Monday

The mancats have a new toy and it is a hit!
Harrison with the new toy after a play session.  He loves to catch the toy and try to run off with it.  He also drags it all around the house...you never know where it will turn up!

The only bad thing about the new toy is they are not very durable.  Here you can see a new refill on the left and the old one on the right...we had only been playing a few days!  Below is a video of Harrison and Flynn playing...enjoy!

Tanner Tuesday

Tanner's appointment has been moved to Friday.  I called last week, on Thursday, because he didn't seem any better...worse even.  We increased his steroid, and he wanted him on it for a week before we reviewed again, if possible.
Well, I took some of your suggestions from last week and we have been steaming him in the bathroom.  This is helping him breath better, at least for a little while.

He got a new X scratcher for being such a good boy and tolerating things well.

I also bought some saline spray and have been using that in his nose.  This seems to offer a fair amount of relief and lets him sneeze out some of the junk.

Tanner after two rounds of spray...sleeping hard...finally able to breathe better!

We are seeing glimpses of improvement, so I hope we are on the right track.  Thanks for your purrs and suggestions!

Mancat Monday

Mancats have to help out around the house.  Harrison and Flynn learned about ironing the other day.  Auntie had to wash some of the curtains because a certain Cousin Georgie did a naughty thing and sprayed them a bit!  Once they were dry, they needed to be ironed...
Flynn is helping by holding the curtain in place :)

Please ignore the mess in the floor...Tanner has been at this plate and pushed the food into the floor!

Flynn, attacking the iron cord that he can see moving on the other side of the curtain.

You are a big helper Flynn!

Harrison taking his turn behind the curtain

Harrison decided it was more fun to watch from above...we kept thinking he was going to jump over and attack the iron!  Thankfully, curiosity did not result in any harm!  Below are a couple of videos of the boys helping.  Flynn is the first video, then Harrison.

Tanner Tuesday

Tanner is posting today because he is still struggling with congestion and would like some purrs.  He went to the vet a couple of weeks ago and thankfully, his bloodwork all came back normal.  He is congested, but it doesn't seem to be going away.
He went back yesterday because he is still very stuffy and now an eye is running.  We are increasing his lysine, adding a small dose of Prednisolone and some eye drops to his medications.  He already has an appointment scheduled for Oct 18th for a recheck.  We will evaluate our plan and adjust as needed then.  The vet feels it is either allergies or a viral infection, so antibiotics aren't needed.  We are just trying to find the right combination to offer Tanner some relief from the stuffy nose and sneezing.
On a happier note, we escaped Hurricane Matthew with no damage.  We received over 6 inches of rain and had quite a bit of wind, but did not lose power!

The day after is always so beautiful and fresh feeling!  We were still having a good bit of wind, so we opened the windows to air out the house.  The boys loved it!

Might not have been the best for Tanner, if he is having allergies, but the panthers enjoyed it.  I love how they hang out together these days.  Oliver has really taken to them.  Harrison, sitting on the sill with Oliver, is his mini me.  Flynn, on the step, is such a sweetheart.  He has started talking a little bit now and comes running when you call his name.  Everyone slept well that night!

I hope to give a positive update on Tanner next week...fingers crossed the steroids will help him!

Mancat Monday

This post will feature a variety of photos and videos of the boys.

Auntie and I have been on vacation, so the boys were being watched by a pet sitter.  She did a great job with them, but they were ready for us to be home.  I took an extra day off, to spend with them, and Harrison just slept and slept!

Our weather is cooling off some, so we had some open window time on Sunday.  I loved getting all my house panthers in one photo!

Flynn loves tissue paper!  We try to put out a new piece every now and then so they can play with it!  Flynn had his piece destroyed in a matter of minutes!

Tanner was not too happy with Flynn came over to his piece!

Next, is a video of Harrison.  I could have saved this for a Wacky Wednesday post, but I thought you would enjoy it today.  Harrison has discovered that he can get on the shelves in the pantry where the cat treats are kept.  He loves to steal a bag and run off with them.  He isn't so much interested in eating them, as he is playing with the bag.   We find treat bags in random places around the house where he has taken them.  He is a nut!
