Trio Tuesday

The easiest time to get a trio picture is when the boys are having their evening canned food!

Mancat Monday - a Video

Devon was attacking this bag of birdseed in the pantry. We discovered later that it was full of moths! The bag is now outside, although we are still finding moths in the pantry. It is a source of great entertainment for the boys. Cousin Sophie peeks in for a bit to see what is happening.

Friends Flashback Friday

This is a slight flashback, to the time on our trip a few weeks ago...we met some interesting people, and wanted to share them on Friends Friday.
This lovely lady was at the parade in Red Wing...she had a sweet guinea pig named Ninja that we were happy to meet!
This lady owned the Green Gables Inn, in Lanesboro. This Inn was awesome and we enjoyed our night there. In the lobby, which is part of the owners house, there were a couple of small dogs. How neat to live where you work, and vice versa!
This gentleman was at the farmers market...he sold delicious cinnamon roasted nuts of various varieties. Tanner loved the sweet smell coming from his booth and was not shy about asking for a picture :) I think the real Tanner would have asked for a sample too!
Of course, our wonderful neighbors (minus the husband), who fed us a delicious dinner and showed us around their new town.

Well, there you have it...some of the wonderful people we met on our trip to Minnesota!

Tummy Tuesday - Do the Q

Devon practices 'Doing the Q' for the contest hosted here.

Or maybe he can enter the Full Monty with this pic!
Are you going to enter this year?? Or has Devon's superb techinque scared you off? :)

Mancat Monday

Two of my mancats went to the vet last week for their annual visits. I have perfected the snag and stuff maneuver and we were out the door in under 10 minutes! The boys never saw it coming!!
Tanner was slightly worried, afraid he would be fussed at for his weight. He remedied that problem by peeing on his towel...he successfully lost 1 ounce!! WTG Tanny!!

His blood work all came back normal, and his teeth were nice and clean. Overall she was pleased with him, and I was relieved :)
Smokey also went, and he behaved like a true gentleman. He had gained some weight which is exactly what he needs to do. He weighs 10.1 now. Anything over 10 and I am one happy momma! His bloodwork was all good and so were his teeth.

Thankful today for healthy mancats. (Devon goes in December)

Flats in the Garden

Today's Garden post is taking place at the Minneapolis Farmer's Market...the Flats saw many wonderful things and wanted to share them with you.
There were booths from all over the state at this farmer's market and it was set up on the sidewalks downtown. There was something for everyone...Next week we'll show you some of the strange and unusual things we found...
Pirate loves a good fresh apple, and these are REALLY Fresh!
We found an Amish stand selling many different types of tomatoes...I asked him if we could photograph his food, and he was ok with that...Here's Pirate with some yellow heirloom tomatoes. I should have taken pictures of the signs telling what type they were, but oh well...
Sophie found some that were pretty and red...they all had such exotic sounding names...of course these are organic too.
Devon hanging out with some darker ones....
Tanner found some that were yellow and orange like him! Tabby Tomatoes anyone?

Smokey's choice were a very deep red...
Tanner and Sophie found the catnip stand...

Devon thought the blueberries looked delicious...blue is his color afterall :)

Smokey loved looking at the purple eggplant...Smokey loves the color purple!
There were beautiful flowers everywhere...it smelled wonderful walking down the streets. I think the boys were trying to con me into getting some of that catnip by offering me some flowers!

Well, there you have it. For more fabulous gardens check out the other members of The Society of Feline Gardeners.

This is the human addition of this award...here are the rules:

1) Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award:
Thanks the cats and bean at Mishkat blog. This is a witty blog documenting the lives of Franklin, Dobby and Miss Tasha.

2) Share 7 things about yourself, and this needs to be the human...
  • I work for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill...go Tarheels! I also graduated from here and started working for my department when I was a student. That experience led to a full-time job.
  • I love to read, and my favorite authors include: Debbie Macomber, Rita Mae Brown, Donna Andrews, Michael Crichton, Leann Sweeney, JK Rowling.
  • My dreams include, owning a beach house, living in a small downtown apartment above a bookstore that I own, running a bed and breakfast, or starting a hospice facility for older cats with special medical needs.
  • I enjoy cooking and watching the Food Network
  • My trip to Japan in 2008 was the first time I had left the country. I hope Europe will be my next foreign excursion!
  • I love facebook and spend way too much time playing games on there. My favorites are Mafia Wars and Frontierville.
  • My biggest fear in life is that something bad will happen to my boys and they will suffer and wonder why mom isn't here to help them.

3) Now to pass this along to 5 other bloggers...

Flats around the town

In today's post the flat cats show you all the fun they had on the rest of their vacation...
In Minneapolis, there was a neat metal sculpture store...the cats thought these rabbits were funny because of all the trouble we've had with rabbits in our garden this year! Watch out Rabbit, or we'll turn you into a sculpture!
Later on, in Lanesboro, the cats were hot and decided to float down the river...
Taking an Amish tour in a buggy...
Here's mom and Auntie with the cats in a surrey...
Later in Wisconsin, cheese was needed...the flats all picked out their favorites. Notice Tanner has found the chocolate cheese!
Eating lunch...fresh cheese, summer sausage and root beer!

We saw a moose while driving back to Minnesota...the flats stayed safe in the car, while mom and Auntie ventured to get a picture. (note: he was behind a fence)
Devon wanted to make sure mom saw this sign...

Beautiful hanging baskets in the town of Red Wing, where the parade was held.

There is a Norwegian store there and Pirate wanted to ride on a horse!

This pillow was cool, showing all the different places in Minnesota...

A neat chair carved from a tree trunk...the flats can appreciate good craftsmanship!

At our favorite restaurant...unfortunately these fevvers were not real :(

Any some cat beat us to this bird...bummer.

Well, we hope you've enjoyed our adventures...there will be a few more flat posts on some of the themed days next week. Have a great weekend everyone!

Flat Cats watch a parade

This was actually our last day on vacation, but we were so excited to show you our new friend...
We were all waiting for the parade in Red Wing, Minnesota to begin, in celebration of the River City Days, and look what we found...can you see her? Ninja, the guinea pig was sitting right beside us on the parade route!!! Her lovely owner let us get photographed with Ninja...we've never seen a guinea pig before, we were a bit afraid she would nibble on our cardboard selves!

Just to clarify...the flat cats shown are (l-r) Smokey, Tanner and Devon, then cousin Pirate and cousin Sophie.
The parade was a lot of fun...there were floats from all over. Here's one from Anoka, MN...the Halloween capital. We were excited to see that they have two parades in October...wonder if mom will bring us back? We are the Halloween trio afterall...
Our neighbors came down to watch the parade with us...look at all those stickers! She was one happy girl!!
Fun drummers...

This video takes the cake though...it isn't the best of quality, but it is a group from the nursing home, and they are playing bedpans!! ROFL

More on our trip tomorrow...

Flat cats on the move

Tha flat cats took a trip last week to their favorite state...Minnesota!
They started at the airport, and needed a snack almost immediately...water and chips for everyone!
The first stop was a drive down to visit with their old neighbors. The neighbors showed us around their town and we found a band performing...

An airplane in a park with beautiful flowers all around it...

And we had dinner with the neighbors...it was great seeing them again!

Finally it was time for bed...more of our journey tomorrow.
