Mancat Monday

Another fun week for the boys...everyone is doing great.
Many of you know that Pumpkin has been unwilling to eat on her own for several months now.  I syringe feed her a few times a day.  The vet recommended I use low sodium chicken broth in her slurry and add dandelion greens to it.  So now, I make chicken stock from scratch, and freeze her slurry mixture.  Dandelion greens aren't in season, or available, at all grocery stores right now, so she is having mustard greens and cilantro.  I boiled the chicken with carrots, the carrot tops and parsley.  She is a spoiled girl!  It seems to be helping though because she is gaining weight!

Rusty needed a new vantage point to see the craziness!

Auntie and I also cooked a large batch of Italian Pinto Beans this weekend.  Teddy had never helped sort beans before and he loved it!  He loves anything that makes noise.

Flynn also helped some...

Rusty was also curious about all these beans on the counter.  We doubled the recipe and needed 12 cups of dried beans.  There's nothing I love more than the smell of pintos cooking on the stove!  Growing up, we heated our house with a large wood stove in the basement.  Mom would put a pot of beans down there to cook all day and the whole house smelled yummy!

A few of the cousin cats are not in control of their peeing and see to prefer my craft room and bedroom to a litter box!  This is unacceptable, so I installed a gate to keep them out.

Flynn spends his days sleeping downstairs...

Charles joined him on this day...Charles weighs just over 10 pounds now, and Flynn is almost 20.

Pumpkin has some new succulents for her tank.  Giving them time to adjust before putting them in their cute pots I bought!

I promise Harrison is also doing well, he is just harder to photograph sometimes!

Anytime you folks from the North would like your cold air back, please come and get it, we are done!

Mancat Monday

The mancats have had a couple of busy weeks!
Charles loves to dangle his arms over the sofa, or anywhere really.  Pumpkin gave it a good try too.  Her arms are just a bit short!

Flynn wasn't too sure about Pumpkin sitting on him

Auntie and I are planning to redo the floors upstairs.  We knew we could save some money if we did the carpet removal ourselves.  We have had a couple of snow weekends, so it has been a great project.  We will be adding a carpet runner to the stairs, so we only needed to paint the edges!

Only one cat, Harrison, didn't walk down the center while the paint was still wet!

Rusty liked to pull at the tape...such big helping boys!

Our snow this weekend came onto the screened porch, so the boys were out there enjoying it!

Just a few inches, but it was pretty and the roads were cleared by the afternoon.

Flynn checking out the carpet we pulled up in the craft room.

The hall carpet is gone!  We will be doing the cat room, which is the last door on the left, the hallway, and then the craft room in vinyl plank.

Mancat Monday

Wow where did the year go?  This post will be photo intensive, but I'll start by saying everyone is doing well!
Charles loved the porch during the summer months.  He has grown into a super handsome boy.

He loves his mama snuggles and I love them too!  He nurses on this blanket and purrs up a storm.  He is a sweet baby.
Growing up and getting new adult teeth. (September)  He had his neuter in August and did well with that.
Pumpkin has had an interesting year.  She loves to sit and look out the window in my craft room/home office.
Charles loves to dangle his arms!

Flynn continues to do well.  He had a pretty boring year until November...

Pumpkin went to visit Santa!  I would normally have taken Charles because that is what kittens do their first year, but he is a shy and nervous boy, so he lucked out.

Rusty has had a boring year and is just loving life!

Flynn had a dental procedure in November and lost 7 teeth.  He will continue to visit the dentist yearly for monitoring.  She feels he will lose his two upper canines in a couple of years because they are being pushed out of their sockets.
Here you can see which teeth are missing now.  Thankfully, they were all pretty small teeth.  Flynn did well with his recovery.

Pumpkin had surgery the following week on December 4th.  She was spayed and also the vet wanted to take an exploratory look to see if we could figure out why she isn't growing and eating.  Her liver was the wrong color, so biopsies were taken.  It came back showing something called vacuolar hepatopathy.  There aren't a lot of blood work tests you can run on a reptile, so looking for issues with her endocrine levels or other hormones isn't possible.

She also started getting acupuncture to try and stimulate the appetite and heal the liver.  After three rounds, she ate a few wax worms on her own!  She has gained 13 grams as well, so we are all pleased!
Before her surgery, she did a few paintings...
Here is her first one...

Cousin Lenny gave us all a scare in October.  He collapsed one evening and having trouble breathing.  Rushed to the emergency vet and his heart was in some awkward rhythm.  We asked if he could be transferred to NC State Vet School, and luckily we got him in.  They had refused us when we called at first because that is our preferred emergency location.  Covid has caused reduced staffing and in my opinion put a lot of animals at risk because they can't always get the help they need.  Rant over, Lenny ended up getting a pace maker put in and is now doing well.

Charles enjoys this hammock on the condo on the porch...

Charles has the cutest markings...

Auntie and I completed our conceal carry course in July and both passed the shooting portion.
Charles loves Pumpkin...sometimes too much!

Well, there you have it!  A LONG overdue update on the Four Crazy Cats!
